Dr Mark Hensman is an educator from New Zealand where he was a geography teacher (co-authoring 9 geography textbooks for NZ schools) and head of a boys’ day/boarding school. He then gained a doctorate in theology based on anthropological research of two villages in western Thailand. Following this and six years as Head of Harrow International School Bangkok, Dr Hensman became COO and Director of Schools for Harrow International Management Services Ltd and was involved in establishing Harrow International Schools in Hong Kong and Shanghai. Prior to taking his current post as Principal of the International Leadership Academy Beijing and Chief Education Officer of the ILA group, Dr Hensman completed a Post-Masters Certificate in chaplaincy with a specialism in hospital chaplaincy while looking after his terminally ill wife and he has recently commenced another doctorate, focusing on the spiritual care of the homeless.
