The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, abbreviated as "UNC", was founded in 1789. It ranked 22nd in the U.S. News ranking of the best universities in the United States in 2024, and is known as a "Public Ivy" and a "New Ivy". The official mascot is "Ramesses the Ram".
