Holidays are fun, but it is so nice to be back at school. We had a fabulous week with a Fordham University visit on Tuesday, Advisory Board meeting on Wednesday, and PSG meeting on Thursday. Our preschool and elementary students started their ASAs making for a livelier campus. All of this happens because our staff is committed to offering the best opportunities for students and our families are supportive of our efforts.
Students in middle and high school have had the opportunity to meet admission counselors from several incredible universities this year. This experience is intended to broaden the horizons of the students and provide new options for post-secondary study. While middle school students may not yet be tuned into the university application process, this exposure will help them make better decisions when it’s their turn.
Our Advisory Board includes parents from each of our divisions. They assist us with strategic and financial planning and give our administrative team a small group to share new ideas with. We are very grateful for their time and talent. All parents are PSG members, and all are invited to meetings. Each meeting is a blend of event updates and school information along with opportunities for parents to become more involved at school. With Fall Festival around the corner, much discussion was centered around our plans. Also, we reviewed how to read student status reports and MAP reports. After the reports are sent home on 25 October, we will hold a Parent University dedicated to understanding the information on the MAP report and how to use the information to support your child’s academic growth.
We hope to see you at upcoming events on campus. Thank you for choosing QSI Chengdu, where we achieve excellence together.
Class Highlight
Ms. Sally's Chinese Class
For Chinese class we are learning about traditional Chinese families and how they differ from modern Chinese families. While exploring Chinese families we held a debate based on the traditional view望子成龙. 望子成龙 talks about expecting their child to succeed in ‘becoming a dragon’ which basically entails becoming a general or someone with great power in history. During the class, the students had a heated debate on the pros and cons of this traditional view.

Sally
