PLE DI Coffee 

At the Tuesday PLE DI Coffee, DI Penny Blackwell shared the 7 key steps to raising open-minded kids. She gave examples on how to model inclusive behavior, how to build self-esteem and empathy, furthermore, she had discussions with parents on how to be prepared to answer kids' questions. We believe that when children are exposed to diverse experiences and people, they become more inclusive.

Because after all we have more in common than separates us. 

在星期二的 PLE 校监晨会上，我们的校监 Penny Blackwell 女士分享了培养思想开放的孩子的 7 个关键步骤。

Secondary Mock MUN Debate

Students had a practice for their Model United Nations’ debate. They had a very interesting debate on the topic of establishing fair minimum wage laws. Many S1 students got a chance to familiarize themselves with how MUN is conducted. 

高中部的学生们为了模拟联合国辩论做了一次演练。大家就制定公平的最低工资法这一话题进行了非常有趣的辩论。许多高一的学生通过这次演练有机会接触和了解模拟联合国的运作方式。

Child Protection Training for Staff

To ensure the wellbeing and productive working together at school, staff received their annual Child Protection training. During this workshop, teachers and staff learn about appropriate interactions with students in and out of school and sign a strict code of conduct. 

为了确保在学校创建一个健康和高效的工作环境，工作人员每年都会就儿童保护这个主题进行专门的培训。经过这类的培训，教职员工收获了如何在校内外与学生做适当的互动，并在培训后签署严格的行为准则承诺书。

Main Campus DI Coffee

At our monthly Main Campus DI Coffee, DI Kaitlin Eckart welcomed parents with updates on current developments and changes. Afterwards, she gave a brief lecture on how to build and maintain healthy sleep habits for children. She covered topics such as what disrupts healthy sleep and what to do to achieve a good and restful sleep routine.

Athletics News

It's been three years since students have been allowed to travel for ACAMIS TOURNAMENTS. Secondary Boys basketball team will be traveling on Feb 22 and returning Feb 25 to Suzhou China. 

距离上次参加 ACAMIS 锦标赛已经过去三年了。高中部男子篮球队将于本月 22 日启程去苏州参加这次的锦标赛并于 25 日返回深圳。

Counselor's Corner

Respect is an important guiding principle for our society. Respect is essential to social awareness and a quality that needs to be developed. Respect is also a way to exhibit manners or show social etiquette. Respect toward elders and professionals is also essential. Respect is often something that is considered earned instead of given freely. One of the best ways to teach respect is to model it to students and children.At home, having discussions together as a family can promote respect. Each person can have time to speak and share their views while the others listen. Maintaining calm voices and being focused on the discussion adds to the respect of the people involved. Practicing respectful discussions is closely related to our school’s Success Orientations of “Kindness and Politeness” and “Trustworthiness,” among others.At school, students can show respect in many ways. Listening and not interrupting are ways to show respect in class. Encouraging students to write respectfully by following a professional email format also shows teachers and staff respect. Following the school rules, like obeying the dress code, coming to school with their materials, and greeting teachers and students in the morning, are ways to show respect. Using proper titles is another way for students to show respect at school.

尊重他人是我们社会的重要指导原则。尊重对于社会意识和需要培养的品质至关重要。尊重也是表现礼貌或社交礼仪的一种方式。尊重长辈和专业人士也很重要。尊重通常被认为是需要去赢得的，而不是无偿给予的。教导学会尊重他人的最好方法之一是向学生和儿童树立榜样。
