Education is a unique profession in that it entails continual development and training. The development and training of our staff ensures that they are kept up to date with the latest research and developments in education.

Last Friday the staff at BIS had a great day of learning, we had Health and Safety focused day that consisted of three main sessions.

BIS的员工在上周五的员工培训日里度过了愉快的一天，培训以健康和安全为重点，由三个部分组成。

Session 1.

We are constantly monitoring and updating our processes in school. In this session we focused attention on the safety procedures within the school, mainly around student supervision and emergency procedure. Much like when we were still able to take airplanes around the world and the flight stewards take the passengers through the emergency procedures on the aircraft, the teachers were taken through the school’s emergency procedure. We analysed the emergency routes, talked about what to expect in an emergency drill and made sure that we are all prepared for any emergency.

Session 2.

In this session the staff worked in groups to review and comment on a few of the schools’ updated policies and procedures. These are the underpinning documents the school uses to ensure we are following the most modern and up-to-date teaching practices. The team separated into groups; each group analysed a different document and then reported back to the whole staff of their findings. Some of the documents we reviewed included the Health and Safety: Child Protection Policy, the Assessment Procedures and the Behaviors for Learning Policy. In analyzing and having to report to others encourages the team to deep dive into the wording and ethos of the documents.

在这部分的培训中，教职员工分组研读和讨论了一些学校更新的政策和程序。这些是学校用来确保员工遵循最现代和最新的教学实践的基础文件。团队被分成几组；每个小组围绕不同的文件进行研究，然后将他们的发现报告给全体员工。我们审查的文件包括健康与安全：儿童保护政策、学习评估流程和学习行为政策。在分析和向他人报告的同时，这也鼓励了团队能够深入研究文件的内涵和精神。

Session 3.

We were very fortunate to be joined doctors from Foshan Fosun Chancheng Hospital. The staff engaged in a rigorous CPR Training. CPR – or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation – is an emergency lifesaving procedure performed when the heart stops beating. Immediate CPR can double or triple chances of survival after cardiac arrest. We had hands-on practice with resuscitation dummies and defibrillator machines. The staff were presented with certificates after they had demonstrated competence in the CPR skills.

These PD or Professional Development days are very valuable days that are unique to our profession. We constantly strive to be the best educators we can, and to keeping all of ourselves and our community safe.

第三部分的培训是急救知识和实操课程。我们邀请了佛山复星禅城医院的医生来学校给我们教职员工进行了严格的心肺复苏术培训。CPR （心肺复苏术） - 是指心脏停止跳动时执行的紧急救生程序。立即实行CPR可使心脏骤停后的生存机会增加一倍或三倍。我们对复苏假人进行了动手练习，也学习了除颤器的使用方法。所有的教职员工在学习了CPR 技能后都获得了证书。

这一次的员工培训日对于我们学校教职员工非常重要。我们不但要不断努力成为最好的教育者，同时我们要确保我们所有学生及学习社区的安全。
