Quality School International (QSI) is a nonprofit education organization. It started in 1971 in Sanaa, Yemen with only four students. Today there are 35 QSI schools in 31 countries of Europe, Asia, Africa, and Central & South America, with over 6500 students representing over 125 different nationalities. Five QSI schools are located in Chengdu,Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Dongguan, Shenyang of China.

QSI Chengdu opened its doors in the fall of 2002. It offers a high-quality education in English for students from two years old through to secondary graduation. Enrollment is approximately 200 students, representing 22 nationalities. We are proud to be part of such a diverse and strong school network, which in turn helps us create better programs for all students through shared resources, training, standards and access to external regional experts.

1.QSI believes that all students can succeed when provided with the conditions for success: a caring learning environment, excellent teachers, and a strong curriculum. Our motto is “Success for All.”

2.QSI uses Benjamin Bloom’s Mastery Learning technique for teaching.

3.QSI schools expect students to master the curriculum. Grades below a "B" are considered "In Progress" until students can demonstrate mastery.

4.QSI has two periods of reading & writing every day. All subjects are taught in English.

02 Educational Program 课程设置 ;
Preschool (2.5-4-Year-Old) Program

This developmental program introduces skills and positive attitudes toward learning that children need for beginning academic achievement. A variety of experiences develop eye/hand/body coordination, Mathematics, and Reading readiness. These students also have Music, Chinese, Library, Physical Education, and Technology classes each week. All children in this program must be toilet trained before coming to school.

Elementary (5-10-Year-Old) Classes

Elementary school students participate in a full program of Literacy (Reading and Writing), Mathematics, Science, Cultural Studies, Art, Music, Library, and Physical Education.
Technology is integrated within the curriculum at all levels. Students 5 years old and older take Chinese, German, or French language as either a native speaker or as a second language every day. Intensive English is offered to those students who require additional support.
小学阶段开始全面学习英文(阅读和写作)、数学、科学、文化研究、艺术、音乐、图书馆和体育课程,电脑课融入到了各个年级的课程中。5岁及以上的学生每天有中文、德语或法语的母语课程或第二外语课程。学校也为需要额外支持的学生提供英语强化课程。
Middle School (11-13-Year-Old) Classes
初中(11-13岁)课程
This program meets the needs of students in the 11-13-year-old age group. Students take a rigorous academic program of English (Reading and Writing Literacy), Mathematics, Science, Cultural Studies, Art, Music, Drama, Physical Education, Foreign Language, and Technology. Students in the 11-13-year-old classes take on increased responsibilities such as managing lockers, the introduction of different classrooms, class periods, and homework journals with which they are expected to prepare for the transition to Secondary school. After school activities are provided all year and are geared to the interests of the students.

Secondary I-IV Classes

The QSI Secondary program prepares students for colleges and universities in countries around the world. The rigorous academic program consists of Mathematics, Laboratory Science (Biology, Physics, and Chemistry), World Cultural Studies and History, World Literature, English Writing and Grammar, Art, Music, Physical Education, Chinese/French/German, and Technology. Elective courses such as Music, Art, Drama, or Photography are available. For the last two years of secondary school, students may choose to pursue the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP). The school also offers Advanced Placement Courses (AP) either on site or through QSI Virtual School. There are three types of diplomas offered: Academic with Honors, Academic, and General.

Mastery Learning
掌握性学习
In this research-validated model each Essential Unit is taught with a view to excellence. When students demonstrate mastery of the essential unit, they move on to the next essential unit. If the student does not achieve mastery, the teacher re-teaches, and the student revises as necessary. Additional conferencing and extended practice may be given for the student to demonstrate proficiency at the appropriate level before testing again. When the students demonstrate mastery, they are rewarded with an “A” or “B”. Thus, a student never “fails” in the traditional sense. Instead, he/she proceeds logically through the curriculum at a pace determined by his/her mastery of the material.

Success Orientations
成功向导
“Success for All” is the motto of QSI Schools. Personal habits and the ability to interact successfully with others are deemed as valuable as the knowledge and competencies students learn. Success orientations are actively encouraged in virtually all areas of the school curriculum with the view of making them a vital part of one’s life pattern. Evaluations of the success orientations are limited to situations within the jurisdiction of the school and are made by a consensus of the professional staff members. They are grouped under the headings

04 关于科艾赛校长 - Clare McDermott博士背后的故事;
Dr. Clare McDermott is the Director at QSI International School of Chengdu. This is her fifth year in Chengdu after 2 years as Director at QSI Shenyang. She has had a long career in education at international schools, this being her 19th year in Asia and 16th year in China. Dr. Clare graduated from Cornell University. Her Master of Education is from the University of Florida and Doctorate was earned at Nova Southeastern University. Originally from Buffalo, NY, USA, Dr. Clare has embraced the diversity that embodies international schools and is determined to celebrate both differences and similarities.
